| ReActive Dental Implant |
|
The ReActive Tri-Lobe implant combines
desirable design features such as a Nobel Replace compatible Tri-Lobe connection, a
straight neck to seal the crestal opening, an evenly tapered body for increased stability in soft bone and a round apex to guide the implant analog along the path of the prepared socket without deviation. The round apex also facilitates sinus elevation through the socket without tearing the membrane. In fact, the ReActive implant has all the features that Nobel should have included in its new Nobel Active implant...and didn't. In addition, the ReActive offers the increased strength of titanium alloy, double-lead threads for faster insertion, micro-threads for reduced stress in the critical crestal bone region, and progressively deeper threads for increased surface area. While the Nobel Active implant offers a good internal connection, having a lead-in bevel and internal hex (Niznick U.S. Pat. #4,960,381 expired October 2007), Implant Direct believes that Nobel Biocare clinicians should not have to change platforms just to get deeper threads. With ReActive offering All-In-One packaging for a 70% cost savings (77% in Canada) compared to Nobel Active prices for comparable components (implant, cover screw, transfer and abutment) we believe that the "Implant of the (Nobel Customer's) Future" is the ReActive. |
 |
| Dr. Niznick's Warning Regarding Nobel's "Implant Of The Future" |
| Nobel Biocare announced the launch of an internal and external hex version of the NobelActive implant at the AO meeting in March of 2008. Following that announcement, Dr. Gerald Niznick posted a slide series on Implant Direct's website and wrote a letter to Nobel's President, Mr. Dominico Scala, documenting his critical analysis of this new line from Nobel Biocare. Subsequent to the sending of this letter, NobelBiocare cancelled its intended introduction of the NobelActive External Hex implant. Below is a copy of the letter to Mr. Scala and a link to the slide series posted on Implant Direct's website. |

A Critical Analysis Of Nobel Biocare's new NobelActive™ |

|
Implant Direct has obtained FDA approval to sell our 3.0mm 1-piece ScrewIndirect screw-receiving implant for bar overdentures and
fixed-detachable prostheses. While mini-implants ranging from
1.8mm to 3.0mm are popular, only the 3.0mm diameter implants
have received FDA marketing approval without disclaimers as to
projected useful life. With the use of tapered implants, there
is no need to insert an implant below this critical 3.0mm
dimension. The Mini-Indirect Implant for screw-retained
restorations adds to Implant Direct's popular Mini-Direct
one-piece implant for cemented restorations. Two more 3.0mmD
options are planned for launch before the end of the year.
With a crestal diameter of 3.0mm and an apical dimension of only 1.8mm, these tapered implants can be inserted using a 2.3mm drill in soft bone and a 2.8mm drill that steps down in size to 2.3mm in dense bone. Each implant has a medium-rough textured surface created by blasting with Soluble Hydroxyapatite crystals and mini-threads that start 1mm below the crest of the bone to minimize bone loss.

The ScrewIndirect 1-piece implant for screw-retained restorations has a 2.5mm high collar with a 5mm wide platform for supporting screw-retained bars and bridges. The all-in-one packaging includes a snap-on transfer and comfort cap plus a 2mm extender to accommodate thicker tissue.

Surgical Kit for RePlant and Nobel
Replace Tri-Lobe |
RePlant Surgical Kit (RST): Implant Direct's RePlant implant is surgically compatible with Nobel Biocare's surgical instruments for its Replace Tapered Groovy implant. This surgical kit provides a set of drills designed for a soft or hard bone surgical protocol. It can be used for Nobel's Replace Tapered implants as well, providing substantial (60-75%) cost savings and eliminating the need for bone taps.
The RePlant surgical kit is designed with drills for a soft bone and a hard bone surgical protocol without any need for bone taps and with just two drills necessary to prepare the socket for four lengths of implants. This further reduces the number of instruments required.

All-On-Four 15 and 30 Degree Angled Abutments - $100 |
Angled, Screw-Receiving abutments for Tri-lobe implants:
These abutments provide the same top as the ScrewIndirect implant with a retentive groove. This allows for snap-on transfers and comfort caps, which are included with each abutment. This abutment, like all of Implant Direct's tri-lobe abutments is compatible with Nobel Biocare's tri-lobe implants. The 15 degree and 30 degree angled abutments will allow angulations of the implants to avoid the sinus, reducing the need for bone grafting.

| Team Approach Support Videos and Communications Letters Making Implant Dentistry Easier and More Profitable For The Restorative Dentist |
|
Oral Surgeons and Periodontists working in the Team Approach with restorative dentists need a simple and accurate way to communicate where and what implants have been inserted in order to insure the proper prosthetic components are ordered. While implant companies rely on this potential point of confusion to lock surgical specialists into their system by promising customer support in the selection of components, too often new sales reps are either too busy trying to make sales or have too little product knowledge to be of any real help. Some even use their contacts with the restorative dentists as an opportunity to encourage them to start placing implants, defeating the purpose of the Team Approach.
Implant Direct's sales are targeted to experienced clinicians as we do not offer any implant training courses. Our Mission Statement is to "Offer high quality, innovative implant products at Factory Direct prices to experienced dentists." Implant Direct's solution to the Team Communication problem is simple and cost effective. We provide most of our implants with a fixture-mount that serves as a transfer and final abutment. We have developed letters with links to fully explain the use of these free components and provided the restorative dentist with a method of further communicating to the lab the implant platforms used and any additional components that may be needed to complete the case. Viewing requires Microsoft Word 2000 or better and an HTML capable email program such as Microsoft Outlook.
