Surgical:

How many times can your drills be used before they must be replaced?

The lifespan on Implant Direct’s drills are a function of many factors such as bone density and the number of autoclave cycles to which they are subject. Such being the case, the length of time a drill can be usable is highly varied.

A better way to judge how sharp drills are is to keep a second set of drill on hand. If a drill seems to be dull, try using the replacement drill. If it cuts better than the original drill, it may be time to replace the original drill. If it does not, it may simply be a matter of dense bone in the patient. The replacement drill can be cleaned, sterilized, and saved for the future when it is truly time to replace the original drill.
