Driver's Off Axis Access Plug

SKU# DAP

The "Driver's Off Axis Access Plug" (SKU: DAP) is a component used with the SMARTbase system to address the angulated screw channel (ASC) feature.

The primary function of the SMARTbase abutment is to allow the dental technician or clinician to redirect the screw access channel in the final crown up to 25 degrees off the long axis of the implant.

Because the final crown's screw access hole is now at an angle, the standard implant driver cannot be inserted directly. This is where the plug comes in.

The Driver's Off Axis Access Plug is an accessory that essentially acts as a protective cap or guide used during the laboratory or chairside process. It likely serves to:

Protect the Angled Channel: It may be placed into the abutment's screw channel to prevent the channel from getting blocked by luting cement or bonding material when the final restoration is attached to the TiBase.

Maintain Access Path: It ensures the specialized off-axis driver tool can easily find and engage the screw when the final restoration is placed and torqued into the patient's mouth.

In simple terms, it's a temporary placeholder or barrier for the angled screw channel, ensuring the path remains clear for the specialized off-axis tools needed later.
